In English class today, we have been discussing if Hester Prynne, of The Scarlet Letter was a sympathetic character. A comment of a person made me think, because it was something about how is was the forces of society that committed her to be an adultress, and another person, said...."she was with Dimmesdale, while married to Chillingworth, because she was sexually bored, and couldn't control herself--she knew she could lie, and wanted to control everyone without ever getting caught in between her two seperate lives..."(paraphrased)
